$40,000 Scholarships for Science and Math Students
Not everyone has the desire and dedication to become an excellent
science or math teacher. But if you do, and you currently have a Bachelors
or Masters Degree in Science or Math, you could be one of 25 students
to qualify for a tuition scholarship plus a living stipend—up to $40,000 in
total—to earn your Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Union Graduate
College.
This "Clinically Rich Teacher Preparation Pilot Program" is funded by the
New York State Education Department and open to students who qualify for
admittance and enroll full-time or part-time in the Union Graduate College
Master of Arts in Teaching Program. Funding is scheduled to begin for the
fall 2011 term and continue through the 2013-14 academic year. You can
apply any time, so we encourage you to
contact us today to see if you qualify.
The shortage of high quality science and math teachers
The New York State Education Department created this program to address
the ongoing shortage of science and math teachers in urban secondary
schools. New York needs high caliber teachers who are committed to teaching at least four years in a city school district. Whether you just graduated
from college, or have recently decided to change professions, you can help
fill this need while embarking on a rewarding career in teaching.
A program that prepares you for excellence
Union Graduate College offers one of the premier
teaching preparation programs in the state. As part
of your education, for an entire school year you’ll
spend a half day in a secondary school classroom
teaching side-by-side with a mentor-teacher.
That’s twice the experience of most programs, and
equips our students with the skills and confidence
to lead their own classrooms when they graduate.
Because of the excellent reputation of the Union
Graduate College program, our students are in
demand; our placement rate is among the highest
in New York State.
