Union Graduate College's one-year internship program provides countless advantages over traditional teacher preparation programs. Teaching two classes every day under an accomplished mentor provided me with a deep understanding of both adolescent development and of the way a teacher changes and adapts in the classroom. As a result, I have become a better, more self-reflective teacher.

Union Graduate College provides support for graduates who wish to take their careers to the next level. Earning my MAT was the beginning of an educational experience that allowed me to come a veteran teacher in an urban school. The contact and support I received after graduation allowed me to host interns, achieve National Board Certification, and complete coursework towards two Certificates of Advanced Study. I am a motivated lifelong learner and an innovative educator, and my students benefit from my dedication and skills on a daily basis.

I initially chose Union Graduate College because of the Articulation Agreement they had with Elmira College. The Agreement allowed me to waive classes in the MBA program that I had already covered at Elmira College. This saved me valuable time and money. Union Graduate College also offers small class sizes that enable students to receive one-on-one attention from faculty. I could never get this type of attention at a larger university. As a result, my experience at Union Graduate College has been very positive.

The most beneficial component of the MAT program at UGC is the year long internship. By having the opportunity to see two classes through an entire year I was able to really experience what it is like to be a full time teacher; from introductions in September to final exams in June and everything in between. The relationships and experiences gained from the internship, combined with the incredibly talented and supportive staff in the School of Education that serve as ideal exemplars, really make this a superior teacher preparation program.

I choose UGC because I didnt want to be a walking ID number; I wanted to be a respected peer, an eager student and an emerging leader. UGCs School of Education provided the tools to mold me into a contentious educator, providing me the advanced content knowledge, complex skill set and highly developed teaching methods needed to provide quality lessons to todays students. Having four school districts bidding for my placement reinforced how well-regarded and valued the UGC name is in educational circles and on my resume. Being challenged by experienced and multi-faceted professors, assisted by dedicated staff and working closely with fellow students in small classroom settings you quickly realize that UGC is more than just a college, it's like being a supported member of a growing family.
Leadership opportunities such as Graduate Student Assembly and Events Committee attracted me to UGC so I could make my mark as a leader while pursuing a challenging Masters program. As the first recipient of the UGC Presidential Leadership Award, I know the leadership experience along with the superior education I received at UGC produced more than just a future educator but a multi-faceted professional. I didnt just attend Union Graduate College, I am Union Graduate College.

The ease of transition into the graduate program was what initially caught my attention. It gave me the opportunity to explore a potential career path while I was still completing my undergraduate degree. The MBA in Healthcare Management courses I took as an undergraduate helped me to define my career goals, relieving a lot of the pressure a senior can feel when trying to identify a post graduate path
